Conducting Hydrant Maintenance Tests
Record static pressure and complete routine maintenance activities for individual hydrants in EPR FireWorks.
Before You Start
Complete required maintenance activities per NFPA 291 standards including visual inspection, operational check, and any necessary repairs or lubrication. Verify hydrant details accuracy in EPR FireWorks (location, specifications, valve configuration, and operational status). Document all maintenance actions for EPR FireWorks recording.
Recording Static Pressure and Maintenance
The following procedure explains how to document maintenance activities.
Attach the pressure gauge to the hydrant outlet.
Open the hydrant valve fully.
Record pressure in the Static PSI field.
Close the hydrant valve and remove the gauge.
Using the checkboxes below, mark completed activities (Painted, Flushed, Greased, Tag, Reflector, Road Marker, Connections).
Documenting Problems Found
Document hydrant problems found during maintenance, as follows:
Scroll down to the Problems Found section.
Click Add Problems.
In the Problem column, select the problem type.
In the Description field, enter a detailed description of the problem.
If you fixed the problem, select Fixed.
Using the attachments icon, add documents and/or images regarding the problem.
Click Email Problems for urgent issues requiring immediate attention:
In the Email Problems window, enter the recipient’s email address. Alternatively, select the appropriate staff list or mailing list from the corresponding dropdown lists.
When done, click Send.
