Injury

Overview

Document injury causation, trauma assessment, and motor vehicle collision details in the EPR FireWorks ePCR Assessment tab. The Injury section captures comprehensive injury data for NEMSIS 3.5 compliance and appears when "Yes" is selected for possible injury in the Complaint section.

The Injury section displays with organized subsections and expandable areas:

  • Primary Injury Documentation: Cause classification, trauma triage criteria, and mechanism details

  • MVC Details: Automated Collision Notification data and comprehensive vehicle information, Seat Group, ACN Incident Delta Velocity, and ACN Call Back #.

Before You Start

  • Complete patient identification and Complaint section documentation

  • Ensure Yes was selected for Possible Injury (Complaint > Possible Injury)

  • Have incident details and mechanism information available

Recording Basic Injury Information

Document injury cause, trauma risk assessment, and mechanism details for clinical decision support and regulatory compliance.

  1. Define the cause of injury. Click Cause of Injury, and then select all applicable causes from the sidebar.

  2. Establish trauma risk levels. Select all relevant options in Trauma Triage Criteria (High Risk for Serious Injury) and Trauma Triage Criteria (Moderate Risk for Serious Injury).

  3. Specify all injury mechanisms. Click Mechanism of Injury, and then select all applicable options from the sidebar.

  4. If the injury was the result of a fall, enter the height of the fall in the Height of Fall (feet) field.

  5. Document protective equipment. Select all used items in the OSHA Personal Protective Equipment Used section.

Managing MVC Data

Complete ACN incident information and vehicle collision details for EPR FireWorks documentation.

MVC Details appears only if you defined the incident as MVC in Incident > Scene.

Record ACN Incident Information

Capture automated collision notification data for EPR FireWorks crash documentation.

  1. Establish incident identification. Complete ACN Incident ID and System/Company Providing ACN Data fields.

  2. Complete Date and Time of ACN Incident

  3. Enter ACN Incident GPS Location.

Document Vehicle Specifications

Record vehicle characteristics and collision dynamics in EPR FireWorks.

  1. Define vehicle characteristics. Complete Body Type, Make, Year, Manufacturer, and Model fields.

  2. Document collision dynamics:

    1. Click Principal Direction of Force (PDOF), and then select the appropriate direciton.

    2. Indicate Multiple Impacts and Rollovers (Yes/No).

  3. Specify the following impact details:

    • Main Area of the Vehicle Impacted by the Collision

    • Location of Patient in Vehicle

    • Airbag Deployment

    • Use of Occupant Safety Equipment.

Using Dynamic Data Entry Sections

Configure occupant-specific safety data and emergency contact information in EPR FireWorks.

Managing Seat Group Information

Document individual occupant positions and safety system deployment in EPR FireWorks.

  1. Scroll to Seat Group.

  2. Create seat entry. Click Add.

  3. Configure seat position. In Seat Group Details sidebar, select Vehicle Seat Location from dropdown.

  4. Document occupancy status. Choose Yes or No for Seat Occupied, Seatbelt Use, and Airbag Deployed.

  5. Close the sidebar to save changes.

Recording Velocity Data

Capture collision impact velocity measurements in EPR FireWorks.

  1. Scroll to ACN Incident Delta Velocity.

  2. Add velocity entry. Click Add.

  3. Configure velocity measurement. In ACN Incident Delta Velocity Details sidebar, select Velocity Unit and enter numeric Value.

  4. Complete velocity specification. Fill Delta Velocity Ordinal field with measurement details.

  5. Close the sidebar to save changes.

Managing Emergency Contact Information

Establish callback communication channels in EPR FireWorks.

  1. Scroll to ACN Call Back #.

  2. Create contact entry. Click Add.

  3. Configure contact method. In ACN Call Back # Details sidebar:

    1. Select Phone Number Type.

    2. Enter Value with the complete phone number.
